I (Adam) am taking part in Orange’s first “internet baloon race”. It’s a pretty clever marketing ploy from Orange - you register, create a baloon (using a pretty funky flash interface) and then, on the 22nd of June, all the balloons are released! The baloons visit sites that are participating (including The Sun newspaper site amongst others). Each participating site links to the next participating site. Each site counts as one internt mile and the baloon that travels the furthest wins! Clever. Why is it clever I hear you ask? Because it every participating site get a raft of idiots like me looking at their site in order to progress their baloon, and by taking part the participating site has to display a link to buy Orang mobile phone contracts. Plus it’s a baloon race on the web!
